What girl doesn’t rely on her precious LBD on a Saturday night!? Especially if plans land on your lap last minute and you are rushing to get dressed! LOL. It seems that I have a closet full of black dresses and I know exactly why. I love a nice black dress because it is the easiest thing to put on when you are in a rush. The best part about wearing that little black dress is that you can virtually wear any pair of shoe and still look like a million bucks. The easiest way to spice up that dress? Wear a hot smoking pair of shoes of course!
My lovely sister gifted this piece to me a while back and quite frankly I forgot I had it. When I pulled this dress out, I knew I wanted to wear a stand out pair of shoes. The shoes?! These blazing HOT shoes I found at Shoedazzle the other day for $20.00! I almost hit the floor when I saw the price. This has got to be the easiest outfit I have put together in a few days. I added a red lip, a black bag & big big curls.

Today, I borrowed a few tips from the boys. I love menswear – the suits, the jackets, the blazers, the pants, the shoes…I can go on and on. The top really inspired this look because the bow really makes it seems as if I were wearing a tie as opposed to a knot made on the shirt. Once I put the top on and made the bow, I knew that I was going to be wearing my high-waisted gingham pants. It is the perfect piece to wear with this gorgeous top. This is a nice subtle yet chic way of borrowing pieces from the boys without looking too masculine. I kept the outfit simple by wearing black heels, a black clutch & a black coat ( it’s been chilly). In order to give it that extra “POW” I side swept my curls and wore a bold red lip.
I love how this outfit came out nicely because it reminds me of the 50’s – back when women wore high-waisted pants, gorgeous hair and red lips. The pants look extremely slimming and the top is just the perfect piece that really makes this outfit standout. I recently purchased this top from Loft by Ann Taylor ( outlet ) as they were having a huge sale. The pants are also from Ann Taylor but these were purchased at goodwill and I have a feeling these probably date back a few years.
Outfit total: $50.00 (<- A complete coincidence lol)

- Pants: $3.00

There is something amusing to me about coats. I love them in all lengths, cuts, colors, fabrics. shapes etc…I think that every girl ( weather permitting ) should have a very nice coat. Believe it or not, I strongly believe that coats can make or break an outfit. It is like that last ( or first, depending on which way you look at it) statement piece that provides that POW to any outfit. A good coat can make your entire look polished and in some cases sophisticated or very well put together.
When I saw this coat, I knew I had to have it right away. The cut, color and fabric are just perfect; and, It is exactly what I was looking for. The plum color reminds of me of dark winter nights and cozy mornings. This is one of those pieces I am going to own for a long time ( considering I live in Florida, Ha!).
The rest of the country is being slammed with inches of never ending snow and in Florida we are being hit with a “cold front”. Notice I say, “cold front” because compared to everyone else, it is actually fairly cool. This is exactly why I opted for jeans this morning, a sweater, boots and the coat. I kept this look very casual since it is a school day.
Now, I am going to brag about this sweater 🙂 . This is actually another lucky find at Goodwill. This is no other than a Alexander Wang sweater and I scored it for only, $3.00! Yup! I could not believe my eyes! I must add, that this sweater is incredibly warm and itchy, which is why I wore a camisole in the inside. Despite of this tiny inconvenience, the sweater is really nice and I love it. Ok, I’m done bragging.

We’ve been attacked by a “cold front” here in Florida – so that means, boots, coats, scarves, etc…I should mention that by cold front, I mean high of 50’s. Yes, I know we are very weak down here but hey, it happens. I went out last night to celebrate my girlfriend’s big 3-0 birthday. I knew I wanted to wear these thigh-high boots and a dress, so I pulled this out of the closet. I wore this dress once already with purple heels but I wanted to try something different this time around. The dress a pretty flair so I knew the boots would look really nice. Since it was cold out, I threw on this coat and I also wore black pantyhose to keep me extra warm. To finish this look, I wore a bold lip color and clutch.

It is so windy and cool outside that I wish I would have known to wear jeans and a long sleeve shirt. Instead, I wore this summer dress I had been waiting to wear because I thought it was hot outside. However, after having brunch and trying to beat the rain, I realized that this outfit was a bad idea. Regardless of how bad of an idea it was, it is still a cute outfit. This is another dress I bought at Loehmann’s about a year ago when they were having a store liquidation sale. I seriously got this dress for an amazing deal – $20.00! That was about 80% off retail, SCORE! The shoes were another good deal I scored at my local Salvation Army for $6.99 & the bag, well this was one of those pieces I got extremely lucky with. I call this an investment piece because this was actually $20.00 – way more than what I would normally pay for a bag.

Since school started I have been quite busy. Currently I am playing catch up as I was away this weekend and was unable to blog or do any homework.I know, so early in the semester and I have already fallen behind, ;( . However, lets move it on to better news.
I bought this gorgeous skirt at goodwill a few months and I just could not believe how gorgeous this piece was. This is totally a vintage and/or “retro” piece and that is why I fell in love with it. I immediately knew I wanted to wear a crop top with it and when I bumped into this amazing crop top at Urban Outfitters, I knew I had to have it. I love the edginess the top gave the skirt but the skirt still keeps the outfit girly. I added these simply black ankle strap sandals and my black bag to complete my look. Hope you all like.

So, I basically live in thrift stores. At my local thrift store, everyone and I mean everyone in the store knows me as the frequent buyer. I drive around this city looking for the best thrift stores and I do not shy away from the most “suspect” looking shops. I love bargain shopping and I am not afraid to dig in. Back in November, our local church hosted a “Carnival” ( more like a fair) and every year they have a used clothing store. The prices range from $1.00 – $5.00, depending on the item that you are purchasing. Of course, this is the first place I checkout before I even stuff myself with elephant ears, cotton candy and the local cuisine. When I stepped in I saw the usual, shoes, shirts, dresses etc… I noticed that they had a sign that read ” Wall items $1.00″ racks “$2.00”. I dove right into the “wall section” where of course everything was one dollar. As I looked through the racks of clothing hanging on the wall, I noticed this camel wool coat hanging. I immediately pulled it out ( my heart might have stopped beating for a few seconds) and tried it on. It fit exactly how I had wanted it! I checked it for stains, smells, defects and knew right away it was MINE. As I went to check out, I still could not believe that one of falls “it” item was going to be in my closet, for a whopping $1.00! As you can see, yes, thrift store shoppings does pay off.

Most of you have already gone back to school or today was your day back. Today was my first day back and it went totally wrong. I woke up late, got lost trying to find my class and arrived 45 minutes LATE to class. On top of that, I totally forgot I was taking statistics this semester and I am so not looking forward to it. So in honor of my misery, what better way to express it through my clothes. All black everything.
I bought this midi dress at Zara this weekend for $19.99; as some of you might know Zara is having a major sale right now so I got me a few pieces. I tried to get as much summery clothes as I could, since lets face it, I live in Florida. The dress has a zipper in the middle which adds a bit of edgyness to it. That is why I wore these kick ass boots with the dress and of course my killer backpack. To keep thing awesome – purple lipstick and my super cool sunglasses.

Today I have lounged around all day because I had waaaay too many cups of wine last night. As someone that doesn’t drink often, I need all the H2O I can get. I am also trying to get as much bed time as I can since I have class tomorrow and honestly, I am not looking forward to it. What I can look forward to is this: After this semester I will be a step closer to my degree. So here is to my next 3 1/2 months of school #onemoresemester.
I spent my entire Saturday cooking because I was having a dinner party at a friends house. Since I was the “honorary” cook I did not put too much mind on what I was going to wear. Truth be told, I should have just worn jeans BUT I wasn’t in the mood for jeans. Instead, I grabbed this dress that I purchased at a Loehmann’s department store last year. The store was having a close-out sale and I ended up snagging this for a bit under $30.00 ( originally $130-ish ). I love the simplicity of the dress, the cut and the print. This is one of those pieces that you can wear either up or down AND you can wear year round. I love buying pieces that are versatile but that I can always wear years to come. Next, I hope to wear this one to the beach 😉 . The shoes were more of a pick and go for me as well as the bag.

Today is my last Friday before my reality starts again… School that is. I have one more semester to go before graduation and I really want this to be over. I like school, but I am sooo over it. I am ready to be done with it and never look back. Since this is my last Friday of freedom, I have a few things planned for this weekend. I am going to go on dinner “date” with a few friends and family, going out to South Beach and then to the park on Sunday. This is why today, I choose something relaxed so that I can run all my errands in peace.
I based my outfit around my shoes. I knew I wanted to wear something chic yet comfy so I choose to wear these cute shoes I bought at Goodwill from Zara. Since the shoes are nude, I knew I wanted to wear this peplum top with the cute peter pan collar. I also got this shirt at Goodwill for a steal, $3.00!I kept things extra casual by wearing jeans and one of my favorite vintage handbags from Dooney & Bourke, also purchased at Goodwill.
