Faux-Fur Leopard Coat + Leather Skirt

The most rewarding thing about thrifting is knowing how much money I save on clothes. An even greater feeling is when I am able to find “on trend” pieces at thrift stores for a fraction of the cost at a regular stores. Take this coat for example,  I bought this at a thrift store for $25.00. While for thrift stores this is considered steep, it is still MUCH cheaper than what you’ll find at regular stores. This coat is in perfect condition, it’s not designer but it’s one those brands you find mostly at Macys (Alfani) so you know the MSRP was probably $150+ (similar style here) Even H&M’s version of this coat is pricey at $129.00! A greater feeling about thrifting though – is when someone compliments you on your outfit and you proudly say, “this whole look is from the thrift store.”

Outfit Details

It’s that time of the year when I go hunting for the perfect leather/faux-leather skirt. I have an undisclosed obsession with leather/faux-leather skirts. I’m specifically in the lookout for the perfect mini or pencil skirt. Today,  I bring you my most recent leather skirt find. It’s the perfect buttery soft (designer if I may add) leather skirt that I can wear to work and off hours. I actually have a few leather skirts in my collection but I have had to let them go because no one told me that at 30 my hips and but would get wider and fatter. Seriously, what the hell? Since I’ve had to replace all of my skirts, I am now on the hunt for the perfect suede mini or pencil skirt, stay tuned.

Since this is a work outfit, I wore this silk crew neck black and white striped blouse and these red heels for a pop of wow. For some reason, I figured I wear my fishnet socks and lets just say, my husband wasn’t a fan. I however, wanted to go for the exaggerated look so I kept the socks on. I originally did not set out to wear this coat but it was cold out so why not. It was the perfect, “don’t overdress but I’m overdressed look, lol.” I pulled my hear back to a side bun and a black leather clutch.

Velvet Leggings + Sequin Tops

In continuance of my “Holiday Mini-Series”, this is look number four. For this look, I am featuring velvet and sequins.

Outfit Details

Velvet is like the champagne of the holiday season; it’s luxurious, elegant, timeless and always expected during the season. I’ve purchased a few velvet pieces here and there and I am currently in search for the perfect pair of velvet trousers. The ones that I’m wearing on this blog post are actually leggings and that is why they look great with this sequins top. I purchased the top at Goodwill and I absolutely love the detailing of the top. I was drawn to this top because it’s very chic and very well made. I like that I can wear this top with pretty much anything; trousers, jeans, skirts etc. I wanted an all-black look so I wore my Steve Madden Stilettos, a black glitter clutch and my faux-fur coat to finish this look.

Top: Vintage, Leo Narducci Ambiance, purchased at Goodwill: $5.00 / Pants: Hue $5.00 / Shoes: Steve Madden: $35.00 / Faux-Fur Coat: Alfani, purchased at Goodwill: $15.00 / Clutch: Vintage Glitter Clutch, purchased at Goodwill: $2.00 /  Outfit total: $62.00

Fur Coat + Embellished Top

This is outfit number three of my mini-series: Holiday Outfits. I am actually excited about this outfit because everything was purchased at Goodwill except the clutch.

Outfit Details

As I’ve mentioned before, I love anything sparkly: sequin, embellishments, glitter etc., I am THE person that purchases every single piece of vintage-embellished dresses at the thrift store because why not? I saw this top glittering across store from the corner of my eye and I ran to it before someone else snagged it from me. I knew this was a special piece but I didn’t know HOW special it was until I saw the tag, this is a VINCE top. I had been wanting a pair of silk pants and I immediately knew that I wanted to wear this top with silk pants.  The shirt has glass embellishments with gold sequins and I really wanted more of the gold to stand out in this out so I wore a pair of clear chunky heel ankle straps and a loctite clutch to match with the heel. Of course, since it’s cold outside, I finished this look with my fur coat.

Fur Coat: Pairs Blues, purchased at Goodwill: $8.00 /  Blouse: Vince, purchased at Goodwill: $4.00 / Pants: Ann Taylor Ankle Silk Pants, purchased at Goodwill: $4.00 / Shoes: Dollhouse, purchased at Goodwill: $8.00 / Clutch: Vince Camuto $40.00 / Total: $64.00

Faux-Fur Coat & Burgundy Velvet Dress = Holiday Party #outfitinspo

It is only fitting that since we are officially in the Holiday season ( although I think the holiday season officially kicked off Black Friday) I thought it would be great to show you different holiday party outfits. The holiday season is great but when you have several engagements to attend we can sometimes get the “outfit burnout” because we run out of ideas and end up having several of the “I don’t have anything to wear” moments. Here’s to hoping that with this “mini series” I am able to give you #outfitinspo for the several parties you might be attending this season, you social butterfly!

Outfit Details

As you might already know, faux-fur coats are all the rage this season and for good reason. They are stylish, comfortable but most importantly warm. I happen to have had this for about 2 1/2 year-ish sitting in my closet and I know have every excuse to wear it, lol. There is something to be said about wearing faux-fur, it can instantly make you feel like a million bucks, lol! I rocked a burgundy or like some people say, “oxblood” velvet dress and my embellished gold heels. I accessorized with a pair of tassel earnings and a burgundy clutch to match. The outfit is perfect for your work holiday party, if it’s at an upscale venue, a cocktail hour happy hour or even your own holiday party outfit. Stay tuned for the next Holiday Party Outfit, the mini series.
