The Structured Shoulder Suit

If you’ve been reading my blog for a while now, you’ll know that I love vintage pieces. There’s something so special about a piece of clothing that has aged gracefully and that has been able to transcend through time. While there may be tons of fashion faux pas that should remain in the past, we can all agree that structure shoulders suits/tops should not. Now, is this a suit or blazer?

How beautiful is this suit? I found this suit at Goodwill and fortunately, it had the original lace hankerchief but unfortunately not the matching bottom piece. I’m guessing it had to be a pair of trousers but how awesome would it have been if it was a mini skirt!? Ok, enough fantasizing, lol. Clearly not having the matching piece did not stop me from buying it because I knew I could rock it either way. Its been pretty cold here so I paired the top with a pair of black wool pants. It was the perfect pairing because the top did not keep me as warm as I would have liked. I thought about wearing black stilettos but I ain’t basic so I paired it with my hot pink python heels and my brooks brothers bag A.K.A fake birkin, lol.

Top: Vintage Suit, $4.00 // Pants: J.Crew Wool Pants, $5.00 // Bag: Brooks Brothers, $5.50 // Thrifted Total: $14.50

T H R E E M I X: The Wool Trousers

A good pair of black trousers should be a staple in everyone’s closet, both men and women. This is one of the most versatile pieces in your closet because you can wear them pretty much anywhere and they can be dressed up or down. If you happen to live in an area where you have seasonal changes, then you might have to have them in different fabrics, like I do. I have about three different black trousers in different cuts and fabrics you don’t need several. The key is finding the perfect pair that fits well.

I’ve worn these trousers more than three times but here is the three different ways that I’ve worn them on the blog.

Trousers: J. Crew “Minnie” Bi-Stretch Wool Pant (sadly discontinued) but I’ve linked three similar ones on the photo captions below.

Glittery Knit Sweater

It’s officially the holiday season and while everyone has their Christmas decorations out, I am pulling out all things sequin, sparkle and glitter! I love the holiday season because this is the best time of the year when I can wear all things sparkle without being judged, LOL. I own waaaaay too much sequin, embellished, glitter and sparkly clothes but that ain’t stopping me from purchasing more. So, here is this wonderful vintage (of course) glittery knit sweater I purchased at Goodwill, that I fell in love with and it was only $4.00!

Outfit Details

As mentioned above, I purchased this vintage glittery sweater at Goodwill and only knew this would be one of my favorite pieces this season. Although it is vintage, this sweater is definitely one of those pieces that never goes out of style and I am very thankful for that because I saved myself a few bucks since H&M has several versions of this sweater for 10x the cost of what I paid. The sweater is cuffed at the sleeves and it features four beautiful buttons and trimmed with black fabric. The detailing on the sweater is what absolutely sold me. I wanted to wear this sweater to work, so I threw on my J.Crew Wool trousers, my black Steve Madden Lace-up heels and my black handbag. I added a red lip to finish this look, just to add a little bit of oomph to this whole look.

Sweater: Vintage Liz Claiborne, purchased at Goodwill $4.00 / J.Crew Wool Mini Pants, $5.00 / Shoes: Steve Madden Lace-up heels / Bag: Bally, Purchased at Goodwill: $4.00 / Outfit total: $13.00
