Faux-Fur Leopard Coat + Leather Skirt

The most rewarding thing about thrifting is knowing how much money I save on clothes. An even greater feeling is when I am able to find “on trend” pieces at thrift stores for a fraction of the cost at a regular stores. Take this coat for example,  I bought this at a thrift store for $25.00. While for thrift stores this is considered steep, it is still MUCH cheaper than what you’ll find at regular stores. This coat is in perfect condition, it’s not designer but it’s one those brands you find mostly at Macys (Alfani) so you know the MSRP was probably $150+ (similar style here) Even H&M’s version of this coat is pricey at $129.00! A greater feeling about thrifting though – is when someone compliments you on your outfit and you proudly say, “this whole look is from the thrift store.”

Outfit Details

It’s that time of the year when I go hunting for the perfect leather/faux-leather skirt. I have an undisclosed obsession with leather/faux-leather skirts. I’m specifically in the lookout for the perfect mini or pencil skirt. Today,  I bring you my most recent leather skirt find. It’s the perfect buttery soft (designer if I may add) leather skirt that I can wear to work and off hours. I actually have a few leather skirts in my collection but I have had to let them go because no one told me that at 30 my hips and but would get wider and fatter. Seriously, what the hell? Since I’ve had to replace all of my skirts, I am now on the hunt for the perfect suede mini or pencil skirt, stay tuned.

Since this is a work outfit, I wore this silk crew neck black and white striped blouse and these red heels for a pop of wow. For some reason, I figured I wear my fishnet socks and lets just say, my husband wasn’t a fan. I however, wanted to go for the exaggerated look so I kept the socks on. I originally did not set out to wear this coat but it was cold out so why not. It was the perfect, “don’t overdress but I’m overdressed look, lol.” I pulled my hear back to a side bun and a black leather clutch.

THE UTILITY VEST

Utility jackets often symbolize men fishing in the wilderness or camping. They rarely make a statement piece of let alone a fashion statement piece. Today, I am giving the utility jacket new life and masking the “men on fishing boats” with a pair of skinny jeans, heels and some “oh-so” very cool sunnies. I wanted to keep the “gone fishing” look glamours! The results? Urban chic without the smelly stench.

RACERBACK DRESS + RED ON RED

This probably one of my favorite shoots of the week. There is something about a LBD or LRD ( little red dress) that exudes confidence in a women. This is one of those dresses that gets you meow’s and whistle blowers with every step you take. It doesn’t matter how I accessorized this dress, I knew that nothing would “tone it down” so I decided to keep the dress strong by wearing all red.

Sweet Summer Treats

Summer is almost over and I am just about ready to change my wardrobe from light to darker shades. This is actually the most I am able to do because I live in Florida and that means, summer never really ends. I bough this beautiful chambray dress at a thrift store the other day and I fell in love with it.

Outfit total ( thrifted items):

  • Dress: $10.00 ( brand new )

CUTE AS A BOW

This has got to be the perfect summer top. It’s a wrap around top that when around around my waist, it creates the cutest bow on the back. It’s also cotton, gingham, and it reminds me of romantic picnics. I bought this top at a thrift store (Goodwill) a fews months back and it was only $3.00. Talk about money well spent.

T H R E E M I X – Knit Crop top

This has got to be my favorite top this season. It is a knitted crop top from forever 21 and it has proven to be very versatile. It’s such a simple top but it’s definitely versatile (although I have only worn it with skirts) and the perfect summer piece. I plan on wearing this through our very mild fall and winter season.

Summer’s Sunshine

Nothing compares to the steamy rush of humidity sucking the life out of your skin, hair and lungs as soon as you step outside in Miami. If you’re not a native you hate it. If you are a native you probably are use to it, love it or the latter. In my case, I love it. Sure, I look like medusa within two minutes of being outside but I’ll take humidity and heat before shoveling snow any day. This summer has been so steamy, I have opted for dresses, skirts and shorts all summer long. The thought of having sweat drip down my legs and into my jeans is just uncomfortable and down right disgusting.

Today’s look is something sweet and simple to get you through this Friday. This skirt is from the Jason Wu collabortaion with Target. I did not buy this item when the collaboration came out; rather, I got very lucky at the thrift store. I happen to have stumbled across this gorgeous piece (w/ tags) at my local Goodwill.

So cheers to a simple outfit with a retro twist & happy weekend!

T H R E E M I X – DENIM SKIRT

As I mentioned on my previous post, this denim skirt has been my favorite summer piece. I have worn this skirt a million times but here are the three ways, I have blogged about it thus far.The great thing about denim, whether it be jeans, shorts, shirt or a skirt, is that it is very versatile. Denim can be dressed either up or down, the trick is knowing: knowing how to.

N E O N to brighten the day

I have been trying to get my life in order these past few days, so blogging has taken back seat ( a continuance ). But, I am slowly going to try to get back to it. I have been spending a lot of time at home lately, since I no longer have school to keep me busy. I am trying to find a job to no avail ( no surprise ) while trying to figure out my next step. Things can get a little complicated when you are taken out of routine. However, change is good and I look forward to getting my life back in order.

Anyway, about this look.

This denim skirt is one of my go-to pieces for summer. It’s comfortable, chic and versatile. For this look, I added a crop-top, neon heels and a high ponytail. It’s the perfect summer look without looking over-the-top and staying cool.

Candied Skater Skirt

I just love pink and lace <3! And I can’t help myself but wear bright pretty colors during the spring and summer months. The shirt is actually a peplum top but since the skirt fits me right at the waist, I was able to tuck the shirt right into the skirt. I wanted a nice and easy romantic look so I kept this nice and simple. I added this very pretty white gold cuff ankle straps and my pretty little beaded purse.

It was a very windy day and lets just say the photos did not turn out as I wanted them too. Why can’t I just look like the super models with the wind blowing right through the hair why they look like magical creatures? Nope, I’m just a mere human and this is what happens to me ( check below, lol).

Outfit Total: $38.00

  • Peplum Top (thrifted): $3.00
  • Skirt: $15.00 ( got it at a huge sale at the AA outlet )
  • Shoes: $20.00

Happy Fashion.
